Destination Information

The Austrian Tyrol is a picture-book region of outstanding beauty where jagged snowcapped mountains tower above fast-flowing rivers, green meadows and onion-domed churches. Before World War I, the Tyrol included the areas of South Tyrol and Trentino, which are now parts of Italy. Today, the region is a paradise for anyone who enjoys the great outdoors, offering excellent downhill and cross-country skiing in winter and wonderful walking in summer. The region is dominated by the 12,461-foot Grossglockner, Austria’s highest peak.
